ARK Invest Tokenizes Its $1.3 Billion Venture Fund With Securitize

ARK Invest has tokenized its $1.3 billion ARK Venture Fund with Securitize after an SEC order allowed tokenized shares on alternative venues.

ARK Invest Tokenizes Its $1.3 Billion Venture Fund With Securitize

ARK Invest has tokenized its ARK Venture Fund, or ARKVX, through Securitize, bringing a vehicle with approximately $1.3 billion in net assets onchain in the firm’s first such fund move. The companies announced the launch on September 24, 2026, three days after the Securities and Exchange Commission issued an amended order covering tokenized shares in the fund.

The tokenized ARKVX shares are available to eligible investors on Ethereum, while Securitize is providing the issuance and investor infrastructure. The change applies to the format and distribution infrastructure for fund shares, not to ARKVX’s investment mandate.

ARKVX is an actively managed, closed-end interval fund that invests in private and public technology companies. Its holdings include OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe and Databricks, according to the announcement from ARK Invest and Securitize.

SEC order and tokenized shares

The regulatory development immediately preceding the launch was an amended SEC order dated September 21. It allows ARK Venture Fund to offer tokenized shares that can trade through alternative trading systems or be quoted on other quotation venues, according to the SEC order.

That language is central to the structure of the rollout: it addresses the ability to offer tokenized ARKVX shares through specified secondary-market or quotation channels rather than changing the portfolio the fund is authorized to pursue. The order arrived days before ARK and Securitize publicly announced the tokenization.

ARKVX’s reported asset base makes the transaction notable among efforts to place fund interests on blockchain infrastructure. CoinDesk reported that the fund had roughly $1.3 billion in net assets at the time of launch.

Ethereum issuance and investor access

Securitize will provide issuance and investor infrastructure for ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) shares available on Ethereum. Access is limited to eligible investors, according to the companies. ARKVX is ARK Invest’s first fund brought onchain, the companies said.

ARKVX strategy and portfolio

ARK Venture Fund will continue pursuing its existing strategy after the tokenization, the companies’ announcement said. ARKVX is an actively managed, closed-end interval fund investing in private and public technology companies.

Its portfolio includes OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe and Databricks, underscoring the vehicle’s private-market exposure.

The change concerns the issuance of ARKVX shares and their potential availability through newly authorized channels, rather than a newly announced change in the companies the fund can own.

ARK’s Securitize partnership

The launch follows ARK Invest’s strategic investment in Securitize, announced in October 2025. ARK and Securitize said that earlier investment helped establish the partnership behind the ARKVX tokenization.

That sequence connects ARK’s capital relationship with Securitize to a concrete deployment involving one of its own funds. With ARKVX now tokenized, the partnership has moved from a strategic investment announced in 2025 to ARK Invest’s first onchain fund offering.
